Leader: Robert
Distance: 5½ miles
Meet: 9 45am for a 10 am start at the Dorridge Village Hall Carpark Grange Road, Dorridge.
Terrain: Pretty level. We head off through the park to the wooden walkway out onto Windmill Road, cross that and continue on the path opposite to Grange Road. We take a path to pass in front of what was the Aylesbury Hotel to cross Aylesbury Road and then to cross fields and through woodland arriving eventually on Old Warwick Road. We then cross more fields to a drive that comes out opposite the back entrance of the Packwood House estate. From here we will follow the public footpath beside Packwood onto Packwood Lane. The return route is along a familiar path across fields to Windmill Lane back to the start. There are 5 stiles (one of which is avoidable), plus two animal protected bridges (which do not present a problem).
When I checked the route this week, it was absolutely bone dry – I walked it in trainers. There doesn’t seem to be anything in the weather forecast to change that. Because of the dryness there are a few spots where the ground is a bit rough under foot, but nothing serious.
I will book a table for lunch at the Railway inn – outside if the weather holds. Let me know if you can come and if you will stay on for lunch afterwards in the usual way on the PollsEZ link below.
