Distance: 7 miles

Location: Upton House NT Car Park (free) OX15 6BT. There are several ways to get there, the easiest to explain is to follow the A429 (Cirencester) road from J15 of the M40. At the 4th roundabout (Ettington), take the first exit on the A422 (SP Banbury) and follow this for 8¼ miles. The entrance to Upton House NT car park is on the right.

Meet: 9 30am at Bentley Heath Recreation Ground Car Park to share lifts, or, if going direct for a 10 15 am start from Upton House Car Park.

Terrain and Route: Gently rolling countryside in the main, but no serious ups and downs. There are three stiles – all in good condition. From the car park we head towards Allerton and Shenington, across the end of Shenington Airfield to the top of the escarpment forming the edge of the Cotswolds here, along the escarpment to the marker for the Battle of Edge Hill and back to the start.
