Aileen led a group of 9 for a short walk of about 5 miles through Wroxall Abbey from the Case and then through Hay Wood.

Autumn is upon us and some deft footwork was required to avoid some muddy sections.

Mainly pleasant fields but Sir Christopher Wren’s summer home (the hotel was rebuilt in Victorian times), also the site of a abbey and a classic church (which also dates back to the time of the abbey) provided interest. The wiggly garden wall was intriguing.

After a little road walking we popped through Hay Wood. Someone forgot their shoes (not us!).

After Hay Wood, we returned through the abbey grounds, where we saw beaters chasing the pheasants which were popping up all over our walk. Then our return to the Case through a positively scrappy scrap yard of old tractors.
