We were recently at Hunningham for our Offchurch walk but our routes didn’t cross.

The Red Lion at Hunningham kindly gave us permission to park in return for a promise to visit afterwards.

We were soon walking across the medieval bridge (though much repaired in 1651) through golden fields of stubble with enough cloud to shade us from the heat of the sun.

We passed through the local lavender farm, though the lavender was passed its best (the farm was closed to visitors) we had the strong scent of lavender as we approached the field.

We got to Bubbenhall and had a glimpse into the church. The outside of the church told a tale of renovation and near disaster, with its patchwork of stonework and buttresses.

Having reached the furthest point, we stopped for an early lunch on Bubbenhall Green. We then strolled on to Wappenbury, catching a glimpse of the spectacular Hall (though better viewed from further along the road) then on past the St John the Baptist Church , glimpsing some pretty houses and then back across the Leam to the pub.

We the spent a pleasant time chewing the cud over a drink after our walk in the large garden at the pub, admiring the ancient bridge at Hunningham,

In summary, an enjoyable 8 mile walk, very little elevation and fairly peaceful aside from the light aircraft flying to and from Coventry Airport.
