Leader: Robert
Meet: In front of Mary Arden Inn in Wilmcote at 9 45 for 10 am start
Please note that the Mary Arden has quite a small car park to the left as you look at the building. However, at the time we meet there is plenty of on-street parking on the road.
Directions: Follow the A3400 through Henley on Arden and Wooton Wawen. Go under a railway bridge at Bearley and 1½ miles beyond turn right (sign-posted Wilmcote) into Featherbed Lane. Pass Wilmcote station on the left and Mary Arden’s farm on the right to reach a T-junction. The Mary Arden is in front of you off set slight to the left. .
Walk Distance: 5.53 miles
Description: A short distance back along Featherbed Lane then a stretch along a rather scenic part of the Stratford Canal before turning to Newnham than across files to Aston and back to Wilmcote. The route is largely paths and tracks, with one section of about a mile on a quiet lane into Newnham. The is one very mild descent on the approach to Aston and a corresponding gentle ascent on the approach to Wilmcote, the rest is level apart from steps down to and from the canal. There are 3 stiles, one of which is a bit awkward and requires care.
If anyone would like a lift, give Robert a call .
