Description: A relatively flat walk through varying scenic landscape of woods, valley and pasture. Walking through woods to Dodford, we then follow a valley out of earshot of the nearby M5, We turn back through Pepper Wood and circle back to the start. While not strenuous walking, there are sections of narrow and uneven path requiring care, and a couple of difficult stiles, though most of the walk is gated. We have just reconnoitred the walk. There are slippery places as is unavoidable at this time of year and there is one short section which is extremely difficult to navigate due to horses churning up the surface, but generally the walking is good and the numerous autumn acorns appeared to have been gathered up, so that’s a bonus.
Directions: No sensible postcode available! Take the M42 to J1, A38, turn right northbound. Take second left at traffic lights B4185 (satnav may suggest first left down Barley Mow Lane, this is speed ramped and narrow, avoid). When you get to the mini-roundabout, right, continuing on B4185, then at a second mini-roundabout, right into Widmoor Lane, housing estate. Immediate left onto Church Road. Right onto the A4091, Stourbridge Road. Next roundabout, just less than a mile, turn left into Brook Road. At the end turn right (Dordale Road) passing Pepper Wood (which is on the right). After just over a mile, after a long right hand bend, take a sharp left up the hill into Woodcote Lane (second left after Pepper Wood – do not take the road marked “Single Track”). About 0.8mile, just after a right hand bend, there are a series of gravel laybys next to gates with enough room for several cars.
