Distance: 7 ¼ miles

Meet: Bentley Heath Car Park; aiming for 09:15 departure.

Start: We’ll set off from the Fish Hill Picnic Site (or Place as it is now designated) [WR12 7LD – A44 at the top of the hill, turn left into Buckle Street] – aiming for a 10:30 departure. Parking is free and there are toilets (of a kind) but space is fairly limited, used by dog walkers and other ramblers, so I’d advise car sharing.

Lunch: Bring lunch.

Route: From the car park we start with an easy level walk to the East. Depending on conditions, we’ll either walk on to Dovers Hill view point or more likely take a slightly shorter route, avoiding a steep, muddy path, to descend to the picturesque village of Saintbury. From Saintbury Church, we’ll head towards Broadway via Foxhill Manor. From Broadway, passing some public loos, we will then ascend to Broadway Tower……… easily said, and I know it’s a steep hill, but I believe hills like this are to be enjoyed and not rushed. Personally, I will be walking up the hill at a speed somewhere between slow and dead-stop, pausing frequently to admire the views. In other words, this is emphatically not a race to the top and so is suitable for any KR member. It’ll be an enjoyable experience! From Broadway Tower, it’s a pleasant and more or less level stroll across the fields to the West, joining a short lane before crossing the busy A44 (Fish Hill), directly opposite the car park.
