This walk will start round the perimeter of the National Trust gardens, and will subsequently enter the gardens, to enjoy the remarkable follies and lovely countryside and also to view the once off art exhibit called “For Your Tomorrow”. The perimeter ramble will be a minimum of 3-4 miles, and will generally be on excellent paths and tracks.
This exhibit was created as part of the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the D Day landings, and has been relocated from the British Normandy Memorial, where it has been standing since June. It consists of more than 1400 life size silhouettes of soldiers, placed artistically across the Stowe landscape. It is only in place for some 5-6 weeks. More details can be found on the National Trust Stowe website.
The proportion of time spent inside the grounds will depend on the number of walkers who wish to view the exhibit from inside the gardens, in relation to those who do not wish to enter the site. It is however anticipated that we will spend a minimum of 1 ½ hours inside. Admittance is free for National Trust members, and costs £15 for non-members. (it is however possible that some members of the group may be able to include a guest entry, thereby reducing the cost for non -members)
For those not wishing to enter the grounds we will try to organise travel in such a way as to allow them an early return or, alternatively, there is an attractive café before the entrance to the gardens.
Please indicate if you intend to walk on pollsEZ in the usual way, and in comments add your phone number, and Yes or No to say whether you will wish to spend time in the gardens.
