Leaders Ian & Anna
Meet at: Bentley Heath Recreation ground. 9:30 to arrange car sharing.
Parking: Cleeve Prior on road near C of E Primary School Main St, Cleeve Prior, Evesham WR11 8LG
Directions: Note that at time of writing, Bidford Bridge is closed due to accident damage (again!). From the A46 around Stratford, take the left to Binton, left again, through Binton, staggered junction to Welford-on-Avon. Right just after Maypole to Barton. After Barton, straight across crossroads until you find Cleeve Prior. Find safe place to park on main road.
Walk departs 10:30 from Cleeve Prior.
Distance: 8.5 miles.
The walk goes south through the LIttletons with a brief stop in Middle Littleton to examine the Tythe Barn if there is interest. From South Littleton, we return via the River Avon. Near Cleeve Prior there is an opportunity to short cut avoiding Marcliff, giving a 6.5 mile distance. The extra loop affords good views and is easy walking. Terrain is field edges and riverside path with one short uphill and one short downhill. There is a slightly adventurous riverside section that we will avoid if wet as we haven’t enough water wings to go round.
Lunch: Bring a packed lunch, there will be a lunch stop in fields by the Avon.
A gazillion kissing gates and a handful of stiles, but easy walking and no ploughed fields.
