Description:  This is a varied and delightful walk. Starting downstream from Bewdley, we walk up through the town and further upstream before we follow a disused railway line into the Wyre Forest. Having crossed the Forest, we cross the main Leominster road to walk through and alongside Wharton Park Golf Course, to then drop down to the interesting and historic hamlet of Ribbesford. We then rejoin the R. Severn to walk upstream and return to the car park.

This walk is one of our favourites and, while longer then usual, is ideal for these reasons;

There are no stiles, the ascents are by gentle gradients throughout, and much of the walk is in shade.

Lunch: bring a packed lunch

Toilets: Toilets are available one mile into the walk at Bewdley

Start Directions:

Take M42 West to M5. Take nearside lane to go North on M5 (The North West, Birmingham)

Take first exit (No.4) signed Birmingham SW and Stourbridge A491

Take first left on exit island, taking A491, towards Stourbridge

At island take 2nd exit (A491). Continue to next island, taking first exit A456 (signed Kidderminster)

Continue through Hagley to fork right by Shell garage. Continue through Blakedown to island at Kidderminster ring road.

Go right (3rd exit) signed Bridgnorth A456

Go straight over next island

At lights follow A456 (Bewdley). Continue uphill to island: go straight over, signed Leominster A456 and Bewdley.

Continue, passing Safari Park on left

At island take 1st exit (Leominster A456)

At traffic lights go straight over: 300yds later turn right to park at Blackstone Picnic Area.

  Return journey 69 miles
